Alan Eglinton

“A short poem or haiku - its three lines are my new frame to work with. Words may capture scenes instantaneously or voice the imagemaker’s state of mind. To practice another kind of photography and observe things differently - this will be a healthy break for my camera and I.” _Alan Eglinton

In ‘poems’, Alan Eglinton opens up his photographic practice to another way of making images. He observes everyday scenes with the naked eye and tells his life experiences, very often, with a pinch of humour. He picks up a pen or a typewriter instead of a camera, leaving the latter to rest temporarily. “I always like discovering home after coming back from a foreign country”, he says. Words and sentences that exist like jokes, hymns, or proverbs of daily life melt with images to awaken new sights. Along with 44 short poems, the book contains images of 44 objects, and the cover portrays the particular note that Eglinton typed the book title on.
